More than 800 Buehler employees and their families celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Monheim plant.
Monheim, June 15, 2010 – Last Saturday, to the sounds of the Oberndorf Folk Ensemble, more than 800 Buehler employees and their families celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Monheim plant. With plenty of food and drinks, a children’s area with balloon artists and face painting, and expert tours though the production lines, the Monheim team proved that they can host a party, even if the weather is uncooperative.
All of this started on June 7, 1960 with the first production run in rented rooms. In the beginning mainly mechanical spring and friction drives for the booming toy industry were manufactured, but this was soon followed by the manufacture of electric motors. The products included the so-called “brass motor“, a legendary collector’s item, which is highly sought after. In many ways the Monheim plant paved the way for Buehler Motor: The first conveyor belts were used in Monheim and the first fully automated manufacturing line for armatures was put into operation there. Through the years many changes, expansions, add-ons and reconstructions happened. At the same time, customers and markets changed, and products became more and more sophisticated. The Monheim team mastered a steady flow of challenges, thanks to their diligence, intelligence and persistence.
