When performance counts

The new flexible 40 mm EC motor from Bühler Motor.

Nuremberg, 30th August 2011 - Highest level of performance, maximum dynamics with low weight and lean dimensions, these are striking characteristics of the new 40 mm EC motor from Bühler Motor. Available in lengths of 70 mm and 100 mm it is the powerhouse among the small drives, so to speak.

The electronic commutation stands for long life and low radio interference. The 8-pole rotor with plastic-bonded NdFeB magnets makes a decisive contribution to its striking dynamics. Segmented stators allow for a maximum copper fill and thus for convincing top performance. Precision ball bearings ensure smooth running and an operating life of at least 20,000 hours. Three Hall sensors signal the precise position of the rotor.

But the new 40 mm motor would not be a typical Bühler drive if it did not also set the standards in terms of flexibility and adaptability. By changing the wire diameter and the number of stator turns, a large range of rotational speeds can be covered in the range between 6 and 48V. Additionally, there is a large range of possible shaft designs, including flats, threads, cross bores etc. Moreover, drive elements such as pinions, pulleys, and worm gears can be attached to the motor shaft without any problem.

Both block-, sinus- and vector commutation as well as excellent characteristics for operation without sensors is possible. Exact controllability and software integration without problem are further features of the new brushless motors.

Top performance with little required space combined with maximum dynamics: These are reasons why 15 of these motors are currently used in an innovative cash handling system. This system, which can be positioned directly under the workplace of the cashier, ensures automatic handling of deposits and paybacks. It counts and sorts the bank notes and draws up the account at the end of the day - in fact a responsible task for the new Bühler EC motors which implies one hundred per cent reliability.
