Bühler Motor celebrates 100 years at Nuremberg site - Minister President Dr. Markus Söder as guest

Nuremberg, August 1, 2025 - On Friday, July 18, Bühler Motor celebrated an extraordinary double anniversary under the motto “ You should celebrate parties as they fall”: 170 years of company history of the Bühler Motor Group with its origins in Triberg in the Black Forest and 100 years at the site in Nuremberg. Despite challenging economic conditions, the company made a conscious decision to celebrate together with the workforce, guests of honor, advisory board members and shareholders. A special highlight was the visit of Dr. Markus Söder, Minister President of the Bavarian and Mr. Bertram Brossert, Managing Director of the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw).

In his speech, Mark Furtwängler, CEO of Bühler Motor GmbH, paid tribute to the remarkable history of the Nuremberg branch, which was founded in 1925 by Josef Furtwängler. The development from a small company for toy drives to an internationally active specialist for mechatronic drive solutions is characterized by tradition combined with innovation, team spirit and global expansion. Today, Bühler Motor is represented in the USA, the Czech Republic, China, Mexico and India - always with the aim of opening up new markets and in this way also securing jobs in Nuremberg at the headquarters and development center.

Special anecdotes from the company's history - such as the procurement of materials by bicycle between Nuremberg and the Black Forest in the post-war period - illustrate the passion and commitment of Bühlerians over generations. "Bühler Motor's DNA is characterized by the ability to constantly innovate. With our Strategy 2030+ and the commitment of our employees, we look to the future with confidence," adds Mark Furtwängler.

In his speech, Minister President Dr. Markus Söder acknowledged the importance of the company for Bavaria as a business location and was impressed by Bühler Motor's innovative strength and international orientation. In a personal exchange, Mark Furtwängler and his management team presented current product innovations in the automotive and industrial drive solutions sectors. The state-of-the-art testing and development activities at the Nuremberg site were also presented. However, the discussions also focused on the challenges facing Germany as a business location; the high cost and bureaucratic burden compared to other countries, supply bottlenecks, for example for rare earths, and the customs situation with the USA were discussed, including an appeal to politicians to advocate fair competitive conditions and a rules-based trading system.

"Thank you very much, Dr. Söder, for the valuable exchange and your time. Your visit was a great appreciation for all of us," says Mark Furtwängler, CEO.

Even two weeks after the celebration, the memories are still fresh - and Bühler Motor is grateful for all the positive feedback and the great engagement on the social media channels.

The celebrations provided space for exchange, looking back and looking ahead - and above all for a cheerful get-together.
