Founding of the company
(clock factory) in Triberg/Black Forest, Germany.
Bühler Motor is one of the pioneers for
electric motors. Founded in 1855 as a clock factory
in the Black Forest in Germany by the brothers Adolf and
Karl Heinrich Bühler, it needed to maintain
high standards of technical precision from the start.
Bühler Motor still reflects its Black Forest origins
in its logo today:
The Bühler fir tree.
Purchase of the company by the
great-great-grandfather of today’s partners.
Purchase of the company by Josef Furtwängler,
the great-great-grandfather of
today’s partners. At this point in time
the company changed its name. The new name:
Gebrüder Bühler Nachfolger.
Before the turn of the century, clockwork motors for
the toy industry were added to the
product range.
We wanted to get closer to our customers.
To be closer to our customers in the up-and-coming
toy industry, production was moved in
1925 to Nuremberg, which remains the
headquarters of Bühler Motor today.
100 years after it was founded, Bühler produced its first
electric motor.
This was the “brass motor”. Curiosity and
a willingness to change, but also the desire
for absolute precision, unconditional quality and
an outstanding engineering performance were
the motivating factors to succeed.
First automobile applications for
the Us market:
In 1964, with the drive for the legendary UHER 4000 Report L portable tape recorder, Bühler Motor became one of the pioneers of the brushless DC motor for the broadcasting and music industry. Five years later, a 30 mm DC motor for an 8-track tape recorder was installed for the first time in a motor vehicle for Delco Electronics, USA.
From 1974, Bühler started to expand internationally
and opened its first production plant in North America.
This was then followed by further locations such as the Czech Republic, Mexico, China and Japan.
Bühler Motor with its own production plant and
mirror transmission assembly in the People’s Republic of China.
A year later, the subsidiary Bühler Motor Limited was
founded in Hong Kong.
The first product with its own integrated electronics:
The 50 W auxiliary water pump. Development of a pioneering, sensorless sine-wave commutation. The focus: quieter running and improved efficiency. Today, we can also offer all the normal diagnostic functions and communication interfaces that the market required.
All the electrical components for
for comfort solutions for aircraft seating from one source.
After years of close collaboration, Dornier Technologie Systems GmbH becomes part of the Bühler Motor Group
and now operates under Bühler Motor Aviation GmbH. The product range covers actuators, power supplies, electronic, control panels, pneumatic systems and customized lighting.
Highlight: The PAXCOM seat adjustment and control system as an innovative complete system with completely integrated components.
Today, Bühler Motor is a dynamic, family-owned company that has made its name worldwide as a manufacturer of customized drive solutions.
Bühler Motor looks ahead for its customers and stays abreast of technological changes in the relevant markets. From the Black Forest clock through aircraft seat adjustment systems to autonomous mobility – Bühler Motor is always there.
